Melony Keller – Director

Brilliant Beginnings
2607 Woodruff Road
Suite E #210
Simpsonville, SC  29681

Our Philosophy:

Brilliant Beginnings was founded in 2005 by Melony Keller, a mother who experienced firsthand the importance of Early Intervention as well as the overwhelming responsibility of raising a child with special needs. When her oldest son was born with a progressive neurological disease, Melony was referred to BabyNet. Melony and her son benefitted greatly by having an Early Interventionist that became familiar with her child’s specific needs and also explored every possible avenue to obtain the help he needed to live a fully-functional life. As a result, Melony wanted to expand the reach of Early Intervention in order for more families to receive the same quality of services she did.

Our Services

The role of your Early Interventionist at Brilliant Beginnings is two-fold: Family Training and Service Coordination.

Family Training:

Your Early Interventionist will meet with you and your child on a regular basis to address your family’s concerns regarding your child’s delays. EIs use play-directed activities concentrating on your child’s specific developmental needs. Your EI will also demonstrate and outline specific strategies and exercises your family and the child’s other caregivers can use to complement Family Training time and ensure progress continues between visits.

Family Training typically takes place in the child’s natural environment. The natural environment can be either the home or a child care facility your child attends during the day. The purpose of using a child’s natural environment for Family Training is to optimize his/her learning potential because he/she is already comfortable in those surroundings.

Service Coordination:

Secondly, your Early Interventionist will locate and arrange other appropriate services for your child. These include but are not limited to speech, occupational, and physical therapies, hearing evaluations, Autism screenings, and services related to Autism.

Your Early Interventionist also provides “quality control” on these services by monitoring the effectiveness of therapy, expedience of services provided, and relationships with the child and family.

Because your EI has access to a wide network of professionals within Greenville County, service coordination by your Early Interventionist alleviates the frustrating and “trial and error” process that families may experience without the benefit of an EI. Having thoroughly examined and eliminated ineffective or sub-par service providers, your EI can remove the hassle by being your advocate to ensure your child receives the best treatment possible.
